Your website doesn’t need a rebrand. It doesn’t need jazz hands. It doesn't need to come with a Parental Advisory sticker. But it may well need a little more you.
The truth is, most websites aren’t bad — they’re just beige. And whilst beige may be brilliant if you're having a picky tea, it isn't the best if you want to attract and engage. If you want to be a destination rather than a function.
On average, people in the UK visit over 1,300 websites a year — more than 100 per month. You’ve got about 7 seconds to make them care.
So how do you make your site stand out without turning it into a rambling mess?
Talk like an actual person. Better still, talk like you. If you talk about bespoke channel solutions when out with friends, say it here. If you don't.... well you get the idea.
Throw in a bit of warmth. A “nice one” on your contact form. A glimpse of personality friendly note under the About Us. These are the bits people remember.
Avoid 'we' where you can. Your website is about them, not you.
Give something away. A checklist, a cheat sheet, some easy to implement advice, a bad joke. It’s proof you’re generous, not just transactional.
Forget safe. Be memorable. Have fun with it. Remember, 100+ websites a month (some of which are suitable for work) means you need to stand out even if its just to make someone smile.
